Rules and policies

Excerpt from the Handbook "Playing Tennis":

Guests:

• The $10 guest fee must be paid before playing.

• Members are responsible for guest fees, and will be billed (with an additional $5 admin fee) if they are not paid at the time of playing.

• Members are responsible for guests, who must comply with the WTC Code of Conduct.

• There are no limits on how many guests a member can bring to the club, or how often a guest can play.

Apparel:

Non-marking tennis shoes/trainers must be worn on the courts. Clothing (tops and bottoms) must be worn at all times.

Etiquette:

Please follow proper tennis etiquette, including the following:

• Wait until the point has finished before crossing through or behind another court. 

• If your ball goes on another court, call out “let” or “ball on the court” using the name of the player, if known, or the court number. If the ball is nowhere near players, wait until the point is done to notify the players to get it back.

• No hostility towards players who accidentally hit a ball onto your court, even if it happens repeatedly. If a lesson or newer player repeatedly puts a ball on your court, speak to the court monitor about reassigning courts for a better experience.

• No loud yelling.No profanity.

• Keep the court gates closed.

Rule Infractions:

Members not complying with the rules regarding court bookings, guests, apparel and etiquette rules may have their booking privileges suspended. Rule infractions to be managed by the Club Manager and Club Pro and in collaboration with the WTC Board:

• First infraction: First warning (verbal or email)

• Second infraction: Second warning (email)

• Third infraction: One-week suspension (email)

• Fourth infraction: One-month suspension (email)

• Fifth infraction: Suspension for remainder of the season (email)

Weather:

The courts are not safe once they become slick with rain:

• If it is raining or the courts are wet, your court time will be delayed or possibly cancelled. Lessons will be cancelled if courts are wet.

• Court monitors and tennis instructors will squeegee the courts after it stops raining to enable quicker drying.

• Cold, lack of sun and volume of rain will impact drying. On a sunny, warm day, the courts can dry in about an hour.

• Check GameTime to see the status of your court. Call the club if it’s unclear what is happening.
